quote:""I puzzled over the instructions below for a while. I guessed that the reason you rotate the crankshaft
clockwise is to unload the springs on the camshaft. At TDC I guessed that one of the thirty-two valves
must be held open by a cam lobe. I ignored the rotation step when I took the belt off in the later steps.
Subsequently the Left Cam rotated about 45 degrees counter-clockwise. "
Temporarily install the timing belt.
Notice: Turn the crankshaft bolt and align the mark of the crankshaft timing pulley and the mark of the oil pump.
The crank timing pulley when at top dead center has a timing mark at about the 2:30 position. THAT mark tells you it's at top dead center. There is a SECOND Mark that's hard as heck to see on the lower part of the pulley at about the 6:30 position. THAT'S the one you put the belt (CR) line to. Once you figure out that piece the two cams should line up. Turn the motor over a few times BY HAND, and you'll see if it all goes back to correct. The belt won't, but the marks will. I hope that made sense.
Groet
